Folks, I would like to see us get a regional Special Education organization started by having an initial meeting before the end of the year.
We have two possible options one is CLD and the other is CEC.
Donna Baumgardner and Andie Henderson have agreed to be the initial leaders in this endeavor
If we go with CLD (The Council for Learning Disabilities http://www.cldinternational.org/ ) the membership cost are listed below.
Non student membership is $75 per year national membership
Student membership is $35.00 per year
Student membership list me as your Advisor and my phone number is 325-942-2052
Regular membership in CLD includes subscriptions to Learning Disability Quarterly and Intervention in School and Clinic. CLD members may also subscribe to several other publications at greatly reduced rates.
If we go with CEC (Council for Exceptional Children http://www.cec.sped.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Membership/Dues/memberDues.htm )
Non student membership is $124 per year national membership
Student membership is $69.00 per year
Student membership list me as your Advisor and my phone number is 325-942-2052
Regular membership in CEC includes subscriptions to TEACHING Exceptional Children - actionable and useful articles to teach and administer programs for children with disabilities and/or who are gifted (6 issues per year). Exceptional Children - original research on the education and development of children with exceptionalities in practical terms that you can bring into your classroom (4 issues per year). CEC Today - member newsletter keeps you up-to-date on professional and legal developments (6 issues per year, online).

Please excuse what appears to be obvious errors in my email. Unfortunately my learning disability affects my ability to detect what appears to most individuals as simple errors in writing. Even though I used a spell and grammar checker, some mistakes will still get overlooked.
