Good afternoon Det 847,

Bottom Line, Up Front: The National deadline for the Real ID is 7 May 25.  The Det 847 deadline is 23 April 25!

In order to ensure your ability to travel to ODTs and/or Field Training, this means that if you don't have a current Real ID for your Driver's License or State ID, you'll need to schedule an appointment to get your IDs updated with the San Angelo DPS ASAP. See below for further details.

Update from HQ AFROTC that will affect your ability to travel for ODTs and Field Training:

"Cadets flying with their Driver's License as their sole form of ID need to have the Real ID star in the upper right corner.

If a cadet does not have this Driver's License ID w/ a star in the top right corner, they will have to fly with a passport and a driver's license
or some other form of ID.  Military personnel can use their Military ID or Passport (Federal) and another form of ID if they do not
have the new driver's license. The Real ID is compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.  The alternative can be a US Passport or a Passport Card."

>From the Texas DPS website:

"All Texas driver licenses and identification cards, both compliant (star) and non-compliant (no star) are valid until the expiration date shown on the card. If you replaced or renewed your card after October 10, 2016, and have a gold star in the right-hand corner, your card is REAL ID compliant and no further action is required on your part. You may continue to use your compliant card for federal identification purposes until it expires. If your card does not have the star, you can continue to use the card after May 7, 2025, but it will only be accepted for state-related purposes such as driving (driver license only), banking, and voting. It will not be accepted as identification for federal purposes."

If you have a license from outside of Texas, check your respective state's DPS for additional info.  Please let cadre know if you have any concerns.
