[Det847everyone] SUSP 29 Oct 24--AFROTC You Can Fly (AYCF) Nominations

Good morning Det 847,



We have another opportunity to award some flying scholarships, in the form of AFROTC You Can Fly (AYCF) program!



Background: The intent of the AYCF program is to create a robust and innovated Rated Officer applicant pool with diverse backgrounds and increase the awareness of rated careers with a compelling outreach designed to inform, influence, and inspire AFROTC cadets from underrepresented communities. This is an extensive program that requires multiple actions by the Dets and cadets so please review the attached Execution Plan.



Eligibility: Cadets must be US citizens to be eligible, and is open to AS100s, AS200s, AS250s, and AS300s. AS400s may be nominated by exception at Region/CC's discretion. AS700s, AS800s, or AS900s are not eligible. Cadets must have or be able to obtain an FAA Class III or higher Flight Physical. Selected cadets receive $5,000 for enrollment into a Part 141 or Part 61 Certified Flight School... Det 847 has been allocated 4 slots.



Funding: Currently, Dets may not split the $5,000 award; however, commanders may re-allocate unspent funds from a recipient's account who either dropped from or failed to complete the program. There is also an opportunity for alternates that SWR may reallocate remaining funds to them.



Timeline: By 15 November, selected cadets must be enrolled in a flight school and that school must request activation of funding from 1Sync. Cadets may begin training as soon as funds are sent to their school. The attached Bi-Weekly Activity Report is used to report a cadet's training progress directly to 1Sync. This needs to be accomplished to ensure payments are being made from 1Sync to the flight schools.
