Good afternoon & hope you continue to have a safe Summer!

“In 2022, 3,308 people lost their lives in crashes involving distracted drivers, and nearly 290,000 people were injured. Almost 20 percent of those killed in distracted driving related crashes were people outside the vehicle – pedestrians, cyclists, and others on the road.” – NHTSA

Additionally, technology enables us to be safer if applied correctly…However,
-If driving at 55 MPH, it only takes 5 seconds of distracted reading/texting to cover a whole football field.
-It’s illegal to text while you drive in 49 states.  In some states, texting & driving can be a misdemeanor criminal offense (with 1-yr jail time and/or $10K fine)

Other factors (distracted behavior) to avoid:

  *   Grooming
  *   Rubbernecking
  *   Watching or recording videos
  *   Daydreaming
  *   Fatigue/Nodding off
  *   Eating and Drinking

While its solid practice to stay away from these behaviors please be on the lookout for other drivers that are around you. Stay safe/take care & look forward to seeing you after the Summer.
