Aphra Behn Society Graduate Student Essay Prize Winner
It is with pleasure that we announce that Elizabeth Matthews is the winner of the Aphra Behn Society Graduate Student Essay Prize.
She earned her master's degree at Mills College and is now studying at the University of California, Irvine. Her paper, "'A Strange Sympathy': The Rhetoric of Emotion in The History of the Nun; or, The Fair Vow-Breaker" was chosen due to its sophisticated reading, well articulated argument, intelligent relationship secondary resources, and originality of thought. Ms. Matthews will receive $300 in prize money and essay will be published in the 2012 Volume of ABO.
We wish to thank everyone who entered and participated in the bi-annual conference-our society is strong because of the active and intelligent participation of our graduate students.
