SEEKING A CHAIR FOR AN APHRA BEHN SOCIETY PANEL AT ASECS 2013!
The Aphra Behn Society hosts two designated sessions at ASECS every year, and one of those panels is still available. Any member of the ABS is welcome to chair, and I particularly and strongly invite anyone at any level who is not yet active in our organization to take advantage of this opportunity. Panels may be on a scholarly or pedagogical issue related to women in the arts, 1660-1830. We already have a panel for 2013 on the Gothic. The topics for the 2012 sessions were “The Intersection of Eco-Feminist Criticism and Place Theory” and “Espionage: Love and War;” in 2011, the topics were “Performativity and Gender” and “Teaching Eighteenth-Century Literature as a Feminist Scholar in the New Millennium.”
The chair’s responsibilities include submitting the information form for ASECS (available at http://asecs.press.jhu.edu/2013%20seminar%20proposals%20form.pdf as “seminar proposal form 2012”), putting out the call for papers, choosing the panelists for both panels, corresponding with those panelists, and chairing the session. ASECS asks that we submit our proposal forms, providing them with the chair’s name and address and the panel title, by May 1, 2012.
If you are interested, please write by April 25th, 2012 to me at Karen.gevirtz at shu.edu<mailto:Karen.gevirtz at shu.edu> with your topic.
